Fireproof was really a great show. Just so happened to chance upon it on youtube. I seriously never expected myself to watch the whole thing. It lasted about 12o mins. So that's like 2 hours.
Ok. I just realised I spent 2 hours watching this show. I djd not realise time past this fast. The show was really meaningful. The husband demands "respect" from the wife and they don't understand each other and the marriage falls apart. The focus of the show was something like God healing the marriage. Something like that. But then again, there's other climax of the show.
There was this car stuck on the railway. The firemen had no communication with the train and it will crash onto the car in a matter on minutes. They decided to lift the car with bare strength and onlookers came to help. There was this rescuer who almost got hit by the oncoming train. He almost died. But the train missed him by an inch. After the whole drama, he sat down the grass and said something like "Thank you Lord."
Wow. Sometimes, we forget to be thankful. One leper came back to express his gratitude and was made whole. So yeah, Thanks people for the sabo. Thank VERY MUCH. THANKS VERY MUCH INDEED.
Anyway back to the show. This main character, caleb sorta realised his folly and wanted to salvage the marriage. At that point in time, the female character, Catherine had already set her mind on divorce and nothing could change her mind. The marriage was about to end in divorce.
Caleb's dad asked him to conduct a 40-day experiment, it's something called "the love dare". It something like you do something nice for your spouse everyday, something like that.
Caleb really tried being nice to Catherine but still she ignores him. Scars left by quarrels and arguments usually by loved ones, take a long time to heal. Words spoken cannot be retracted back.
Well, for the first 3 weeks, nothing happened. Catherine remained oblivious to Caleb's gestures. Oh ya, during this first 3 weeks, caleb was already frustrated that Catherine still remains cold towards him. He went to speak to his father.
He said something like "I have taken Catherine's insults and her sarcasm. I did everything thing I could to demonstrate I care for her, to show value for her, and yet she spat at my face. She does not deserve what i am doing for her. How am I suppose to show love to somebody over and over who constantly rejects me?"
At this point in time, the father simply pointed to a cross. Well you can what happened. Caleb accepted Jesus into his love. Many a times we feel the same way as how God feels. Well, perhaps the reason is because you are created in His image. Perhaps that is how God wants to speak to you.
Well anyway, Catherine found the "40 day book". So she asked Caleb, which day are you at now? "43" was his reply.
"But there only 40 days in this book".
Caleb's next reply was OWNAGE.
"who says I have to stop?" was Caleb's ownage reply.
That's right, we do have to follow a set of instructions to love. We love not because we have to, but because we want to. We love because we were first loved.
At this point of this, Catherine still refused to accept Caleb.
Caleb was planning to use 3/4 of his life savings on a boat. His boat. However in the end, caleb used this money to spend on Catherine's parents wheelchair and bed. Catherine was in tears when she found out. well you can guess the ending, they made up and exchanged their wedding vows again, this time with Christ being the foundation.
Caleb sacrificed his own ambitions for his wife's parents. Yes, when we love someone else, we love everything about them. We place them higher than ourselves. This perhaps means giving up on our ambitions. This could means sacrificing our lifelong dream.
Well, if one day I would have to sacrifice milking my cow in Australia for my spouse, I would do so gladly. Don't laugh! I really really want to milk my cow and this means something to me. :)
This is the same when loving Jesus. There's still so much that I need to know. You too, reader of this passage, there's so much about love that we still fail to comprehend. Perhaps we can never fully understand, but something called "Grace" exist.
Well you gotta watch the show to understand it. I'm not much of a good review writer. But well, tolerance is really important. Sometimes a simple show can really speaks much about value and touch your life. Especially shows with God in it.
Haven't been watching such great shows in quite a while. Well, this is one show I'll remember.
Anyway I think I'm going catch facing the giants tmrw. and i need to study for one final test. Good Game.
Be blessed, you who are reading this post.
